Sounds like Mr B should have included the plans to allow for a SoFiA II being needed just in case of an inadvertent thermal... Cheesy

This is going to be a Great Adventure.  From looking over the map and the numbers it looks like BruceR AKA bruceter (#36) would be sending it to be sending it on to Doug in northern BC instead of bruceter and I flying it across the Canada-US border as I'd hoped (and thus allowing for an airmail stamp in the log).  If it's not too late can the order be altered to allow Bruce and I to do the cross border flight and then I'll send it on to Doug in Prince George?  I'd love to see Bruce and I flying SoFiA through the Peace Arch in a nice cross border picture if we can arrange it.

Could I ask Steve K. or Rob Sisson to send me a PM.

Time permitting I was thinking of hooking up with them when Sofia shows up, since we're in the same state.

Thanks,

wow just saw this link to the world wide tour. I saw that the aussie's are number 13 on the list. As there seems to be two of us in australia who have signed up which one of us is going to be the first recepient. I don't mind who it is out of us two the whole thing is a brilliant idea and i am excitied to be a part of it.

What a great idea!   I'll be looking forward to following Sofia's epic flight(s) around the world.   Cheesy

And pilots ... keep those pics comin', too.    It's fascinating to see all the places this brave little lady is visiting.

If I can be pilot 12 1/2 I´m in.  Grin
However I´m planning to move to Thailand in December/January so I could also be pilot 24 1/2 too. hehehe

My friend Luis Xavier has done something like this too, he built a model that fits (unassembled) on a small box, so far it has flied on Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil and Chile.

lemuel, if you look at the web page http://www.smallflyingarts.com/WorldTour/worldtour_map2.htm it tells you what order it will come to you in.

Bruce,
I was still planning on doing the Peace Arch thing unless someone comes up with a reason not to adjust the route by a couple stops.

Use gravity. Its cheap, and there's lot of it.

Perhaps not a practical proposition ... but if small prints of the latter two pics (or similar) could be clear-taped to the tube it might satisfy any curious Customs inspectors enough to deter them from opening the tube for contents inspection.  I fear that  handling and repacking, by those with no experience with such,  would likely damage the airplane

Two prints are on the tube.  The one of the contents coming out of the tube and one of the plane itself.  Between the prints are the words model airplane.
Two bright green fragile stickers also.  All under clear packing tape.

Also included the hand drawn plans that B. e-mailed to me.  I could not get it to print to the right scale,  but its close.  I'm sure it won't be needed. Tongue

Also got a 4" cardboard shipping tube in at work today.  It was heavyier than the PVC, and looked like it would never make it around the world.  PVC was the right choice.

I'll also pass along what I learned at the post office today.  I had the choice of regular parcel post, or 1 day priority. Postmaster said that the package was irregular size, so there would be an additional charge on parcel post, but none on priority.  So in the end the 1 day prioity was a better deal.  $4.20.

Lyman, you may see it tomorrow.

I've updated the online FLIGHT LOG with Lee's flight. Very happy to hear that 1-day priority shipping was only $4.20.

BCFlyer:
Sorry I couldn't arrange your request for order of shipping. Things just got too complicated to make personal requests a priority. I don't mind if you rearrange shipping order, provided you do the following:

1. Make arrangements with ALL pilots involved in the change. At a minimum this includes Ron H. in Sparks, Nevada, and Doug D. in Prince George, BC.

2. Notify me of all details once the changes are arranged.

Then to a local park for a quick flight.  Been reading how good she has been flying, so a quick 200 winds - launch -  and quick spiral dive to the right. ???  Eyeball her up and sure enough, bad warp in right wing.  A bit of hot breath on her and try again.  150 winds - launch - and success.  Nice right climb to about 30 feet.  Perfect!
